Like other subjects, Department of History was started in the year 1991-92 with establishment of the College with due permission from Gauhati University. The Department of History was initiated by Abdur Rahim Mollah later on, he left and Abul Kashem joined as lecturer in the department and has been imparting his service since 15st July/1996. Mr Jakir Hussain is another faculty in the department joined on 17th August/1998. However, Mr. Taibor Rahman Khan is the third faculty joined the College on 1st Oct/1999. Major course in History was introduced in the session 1998-99 with due permission of Gauhati University.

    History is a subject which is essential in each step of human life. The study of history is essential for everyone, to know our forefathers, their culture evolution, trends of livelihood, civilization, poltical transition etc.

    To make the society aware of our past civilization, tradition, convention and human values the study of History is a basic need.

1. To increase number of students in the Department of History as to educate and aware To impart higher education in History in degree level for Major and General
2. To develop socio-economic and political consciousness among the students in particular and the society in general.
3. To develop a sense of understanding of the national and international Historical issues among the students.
